SmartGrant Category Focus: Touring & Market Development

Finding touring grants to support the circulation (or hosting) of creative work is always both exciting and challenging, especially in our current environment of ever-rising production costs.

When we talk about “touring”, most folks think of physical (outbound) touring/circulation activities (heading out on the open road), or bringing in artists to (co)present (inbound touring) – (which is, of course a well-established funding focus for many programs) – yet other programs include online dissemination of your work within their funding scope.

Additionally there are a number of other programs that specifically support activities to get you ready for future touring or hosting – from market research, to travel and participation in events focused on the promotion, planning, or network development for future circulation and touring opportunities; or bringing in other artistic leaders to plan for future tour hosting.
