Program Summary:
The Foundation makes grants for cultural, educational and charitable purposes within the Province of British Columbia. The Foundation prefers to support specific projects rather than contributing to general sustaining assistance or to large capital projects.
Grants are normally restricted to projects arising and undertaken in the Province of British Columbia.

Since 1965, in excess of $12 million has been distributed by The Hamber Foundation throughout British Columbia. The long list of grant recipients is comprised of deserving organizations and associations in the arts, athletics, health care and medicine, education, youth groups, and welfare.
CULTURAL & CREATIVE ARTS:
Objective:
- To support the cultural and creative arts, including visual arts, performing arts and literary arts.
Priorities:
- Projects that have an opportunity to create significant community engagement.
- Projects that multidisciplinary in their structure, including blending of various art forms and culture.
- Project that have the opportunity to significantly impact disadvantaged or at risk groups.
Guiding Principles:
- The committee believes that its mandate is to ensure as widespread support as possible therefore grants of smaller amounts are preferred. Larger grants will be considered for projects believed to have exceptional community value and if recommended by the committee, will be funded out of the contingency funds available to the committee in that granting cycle.
- The committee preference is to support projects with multiple sources of financial support as opposed to projects looking largely or solely to the Hamber Foundation for support.
The committee favours projects brought forward by teams with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
Grant Range:
Generally $1000-$3000
Eligible Applicants:
Grants are awarded only to institutions and organizations registered as “educational” or “charitable” under the Canadian Income Tax Act and which are in possession of a registration number in good standing at the date of application. Evidence of registration must accompany the application. Applications are judged and given precedence on their merits.
