Program Summary:

Sector Support, Innovation and Development is part of the Supporting Artistic Practice program. It funds projects by artists, arts professionals, cultural connectors, groups and organizations. These projects encourage and support the ongoing growth, strengthening and development of the arts sector.

Organizations that receive core funding are eligible.

Supporting Artistic Practice: encourages a dynamic support system for the arts in Canada by funding Canadian arts professionals, groups, and arts organizations who champion the Canadian arts sector, boost the capacity for artists to realize work and advance the conditions of creation. Supporting Artistic Practice contributes to the growing network of resources available to strengthen the arts and inspires sector innovation by supporting collaboration, targeted initiatives and career development opportunities for Canadian arts professionals.

Eligible activities:

  • Advancing or developing resources in the arts sector: adapting or exploring structures or systems, digital platform development, resource sharing and support models
  • Supporting artists: production, representation or management services for Canadian artists, groups or organizations
  • Nurturing learning and continuous improvement: providing opportunities for mentoring or professional development for artists and arts workers, network building and advancing artistic practice
  • Gathering, collaborating and exchanging: sector research, sharing or publishing knowledge, networking and magazines that support artistic or literary practice
  • Sector-building for and by equity- and sovereignty-seeking arts communities: activities that support and develop equity-seeking and First Nations, Inuit and Metis arts communities
  • Testing solutions: exploring or implementing innovative solutions to complex sectoral issues
  • Organizational improvement, development and/or capacity building (including digital capacity): activities that increase an organization’s stability, sustainability and relevance to its community.
