New Canada Council updated portal is ready for applicants!

(Sept 17, 2025): Canada Council announces that the new portal is now ready for applicants to establish their accounts

The Canada Council is pleased to share that a gradual reopening of the updated portal is now underway. To ensure a smooth and reliable experience for everyone, the Canada Council is taking a phased approach to the opening.

How to create your account and apply under open funding opportunities:

1. If accessing the updated portal for the first time, follow these steps even if you previously had an active account in the portal.
   • Click Sign In / Sign Up on the homepage.
   • On the Sign In / Sign Up page,click No account? Create one.
   • Enter the same email you used in the previous version of the portal and click Next.
   • Enter the two-factor authentication code sent to your email.
   • Fill out the First name, Last name, Enter password and Re-enter password fields.
   • Click Next.
2. If the updated portal has already been accessed and the above steps were completed, simply sign in.
3. Once you’re signed in, click Home in the top navigation bar.
4. Under Funding opportunities, click Browse funding opportunities and go to the open funding opportunity you want to apply under.

As the Council continues to implement and optimize its updated portal, you may experience some delays in receiving responses to your inquiries. As part of our phased approach, we are prioritizing support for applicants expecting results from applications submitted in the previous portal. Your patience and understanding are truly appreciated during this period.
